Job summary

Essex County College in Newark is seeking an ESL Instructor to plan and deliver high-quality instruction to adult learners. You will create engaging lesson plans, assess student progress, and provide constructive feedback to support language goals.

Collaboration with colleagues to develop curriculum materials is expected. The position offers a competitive hourly rate of $50.00 per hour, with schedules that may include day, evening or weekend hours.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience teaching ESL to adult learners.
• Bachelor’s degree in education, English, Linguistics, TESOL, or related field.
• Master’s degree preferred.

Functions and Responsibilities

Job Summary

The ESL Instructor will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality English as a Second Language ( ESL ) instruction to adult learners. The instructor will create engaging lesson plans, assess student progress, and provide constructive feedback to support students in achieving their language learning goals. Additionally, the instructor will collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum materials.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities

Demonstrated experience teaching ESL to adult learners, preferably in a diverse, multicultural environment. Bachelor’s degree in education, English, Linguistics, TESOL , or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
