Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University is seeking an Assistant Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations within UEIS to develop major gifts and partnerships with corporations, foundations, and other institutions. You will drive identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship to support CMU Libraries, the ETC, IDeATe, and Sustainability.

You will manage a portfolio of prospects, collaborate with academic and administrative leaders, and present proposals to advance institutional priorities,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Three to five years of fundraising, foundation relations, corporate relations, sales, business development, or market development experience, preferably in higher education fundraising.
  • Valid state driver’s license; annual driving license verification and periodic defensive driving training are required.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and manage the development of philanthropic support from corporations and foundations for UEIS.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward corporate and foundation prospects for UEIS.
  • Manage ongoing relationships and serve as primary liaison with corporate and foundation representatives, faculty, academic and administrative leadership, and other key stakeholders across the UEIS portfolio.
  • Develop, review, and deliver competitive proposals to secure philanthropic support; collaborate with colleagues across University Advancement and the University to advance priorities.
  • Manage a portfolio of 35 corporate and 30 foundation prospects and meet annual fundraising and activity goals.
  • Develop annual fundraising plans and strategies for assigned corporate and foundation portfolio in line with UEIS priorities.
  • Identify, analyze, and communicate information relevant to developing successful relationships with corporate and foundation prospects.
  • Prepare and present reports and briefings for university leadership and external audiences.
  • Coordinate campus visits, meetings, and engagement opportunities for corporate representatives, foundation program officers, faculty, and university leadership.
  • Maintain accurate records of prospect activity within the CRM system.
  • Stay current on programs, faculty, research, student initiatives, and priorities across CMU Libraries, ETC, IDeATe, and Sustainability.
  • Collaborate with University Advancement to coordinate institutional strategies and maximize philanthropic support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
