Job summary

New York Edge is seeking a Community School Assistant Director to help lead a high-impact program within a NYC school setting, partnering with the Community School Director and school staff to drive academic and youth development outcomes.

You will supervise staff, coordinate trainings, schedule activities, and ensure contractual components align with our mission. A bachelor’s in education-related field and urban education experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, or Social Work preferred.
• At least 18 credit hours in Education.
• Experience in urban education and youth development is a plus.
• Strong leadership and supervisory capabilities.
• Proven ability to collaborate with teachers, parents and school leaders.
• Commitment to NY Edge mission and youth development.

Responsibilities

• Assist Community School Director in daily program operations.
• Monitor progress with data-driven approach and report findings.
• Supervise community school support staff and mentors.
• Support educational and social development of students.
• Ensure staff training aligns with school day instruction methods.
• Lead projects promoting academic, cultural and artistic growth.
• Support students inside and outside classroom to participate.
• Recruit and supervise qualified staff for the program.
• Coordinate with teachers to target interventions and track impact.
• Link school day to expanded learning opportunities.
• Attend professional developments offered by NY Edge and DOE.
• Engage with parents and organize events and meetings.
