Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for inpatient hematology/oncology clinical pharmacy services; supervise hematology/oncology clinical pharmacists in inpatient and ambulatory care settings.
  • Recruit, orient, develop, manage performance, and evaluate the hematology/oncology pharmacotherapy team.
  • Identify and resolve service needs and practice challenges; advance evidence-based clinical pharmacy practice.
  • Oversee pharmacist privileges and competencies; support departmental financial management and budgeting.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of departmental strategic priorities; lead clinical programs, pathways, policies, and medication-use initiatives related to inpatient hematology/oncology care.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners to advance patient care, medication safety, clinical practice, research, and education.
  • Support implementation and evaluation of new programs and services; provide clinical staffing as needed; promote professional development and educational opportunities for pharmacists, residents, students, and other healthcare professionals.

Position overview

This team supports patients with hematologic malignancies, solid tumors, and related complex conditions. The Assistant Director ensures safe, effective, evidence-based, and patient-centered medication management; advances clinical pharmacy practice; supports staff development and performance; and promotes compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and institutional standards. The role collaborates with pharmacy leadership, physicians, nursing, and other interdisciplinary partners to optimize medication-use processes, implement quality and safety initiatives, develop and evaluate clinical programs, and advance oncology care, research, and education.

Qualifications

  • 8-12 years of relevant experience preferred.
