The New York City Department of Transportation seeks an Assistant Director of Capital Project Sponsorship for the Public Realm to lead the unit's citywide street reconstruction portfolio, including pedestrianization, shared streets, and plazas.

Reporting to the Director of Public Realm Design, the role will set vision, coordinate capital program management with other DOT divisions and partner agencies, supervise staff, develop funding requests, and present plans to leadership.

Qualificações

• Master's degree in city planning, urban planning, urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, transportation engineering, public administration, economic development or related field.
• Bachelor's degree + one year of full-time experience in city planning such as housing, transportation, environmental, and city-owned land planning projects.
• A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience that is equivalent to the master's requirement with a bachelor's degree.
• To be eligible for Assignment Level III, two additional years of professional experience as described above.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee capital portfolio for citywide public realm street reconstruction projects, including pedestrianization enhancements, shared streets and plazas.
• Develop funding requests and grant applications, and manage outreach plans for community engagement and senior leadership presentations.
• Coordinate with NYC DOT divisions and external agencies to ensure design consistency and adherence to standards.
• Supervise junior to mid-level staff, manage multiple projects and ensure deadlines are met.

Formação académica

Master's degree in city planning, urban planning, urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, transportation engineering, public administration, economic development or related field

Bachelor's degree + 1 year of city planning experience

Education/experience combination as described (graduate credits substituted for experience)

Two additional years of professional experience for Assignment Level III
