Job summary

CU Boulder is seeking an Assistant Director for the Division of Public Safety (DPS) Events to oversee operational, planning, and logistical aspects of campus special events. You will report to the Police Commander over Public Safety Events and conduct threat and vulnerability assessments for events and venues on campus.

The role includes managing event security staffing, compliance with laws and university policies, and supervising the Program Manager, DPS Special Events, and student staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
• 5+ years of experience in event operations, public safety, emergency management, or security program administration.
• Experience developing or implementing Event Action Plans (EAPs) and emergency response plans.
• Experience supervising staff, contractors, or multi‑agency teams.

Responsibilities

• Supervise security programs and staff, coordinating event staffing and compliance.
• Provide operational leadership for security at campus events.
• Develop credential verification systems and oversee student employees.
