Job summary

Cleveland State University in Cleveland, OH, seeks an Assistant Director, Athletics Facilities to manage building operations for the Athletics Department and oversee maintenance of the facility and equipment.

You will work with CSU staff to ensure a successful Division I basketball game day, coordinate events, ensure safety, and deliver outstanding customer service while adhering to NCAA and league policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferably in sports management, business administration, facilities management, recreation administration, or related field.
• Four (4) years of progressive experience in facility operations, event management, athletic operations, or building/facilities management.
• Ability to be flexible regarding daily work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Valid driver’s license and eligibility under CSU Driving and Motor Vehicle Policy.

Job Summary

Manages building operations for the Athletics Department. Directs preventative, routine, and corrective maintenance for the facility and its equipment. Works collaboratively with CSU staff to ensure a successful Division I Basketball game day in accordance with Cleveland State University ( CSU ), NCAA , and league policies. Serves as a liaison with stakeholders to ensure event success, venue safety, and outstanding customer service. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferably in sports management, business administration, facilities management, recreation administration, or related field.
• Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in facility operations, event management, athletic operations, or building/facilities management. Experience includes any graduate assistant or internship roles.
• Ability to be flexible regarding daily work schedule, including the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to establish and maintain driver eligibility under CSU Driving and Motor Vehicle Policy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Leadership experience overseeing facility or building operations for a NCAA Division I athletics environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

• Knowledge of facility operations, building systems, and preventive maintenance practices.
• Knowledge of event operations, venue setup, and breakdown procedures for athletic and special events.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules, regulations, and event requirements related to athletic facilities.
• Knowledge of occupational safety standards, emergency preparedness, and risk management principles.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills, including the ability to train, mentor, schedule, and evaluate staff.
• Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, particularly in fast-paced event environments.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to build productive relationships with coaches, staff, students, vendors, contractors, and campus partners. Ability to plan, coordinate, and oversee multiple events and facility operations simultaneously.
• Ability to evaluate facility conditions and recommend maintenance, repairs, and capital improvements.
• Ability to respond effectively to emergencies and implement established emergency procedures.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
