Job summary

Tulane University is seeking an Assistant Director for Aquatics to lead development and management of an indoor Olympic pool, outdoor pool, and sun deck. The role includes hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating staff, and expanding Learn to Swim, Red Cross, and Scuba programs.

Responsibilities include risk management, staff training, payroll processing, and coordinating campus Recreation events. Participation in university committees is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of relevant experience required.
• American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and WSI certifications required.
• Alternative: High School Diploma with 8 years of relevant experience plus the same certifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and promote aquatic programs (Learn to Swim, Red Cross courses, scuba).
• Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate aquatic staff.
• Establish risk management procedures and conduct regular staff training.
• Payroll processing and scheduling activities and events; participate in campus Recreation team.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of relevant experience

High School Diploma with 8 years of relevant experience

Master’s Degree

2 years overseeing a university aquatics facility

2 years of direct supervisory experience of aquatic staff

American Red Cross Lifeguard

CPR/AED

WSI Certifications

American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor

Water Safety Instructor Trainer Certifications

Aquatics Facility Operator (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO)
