Job summary

The University of Georgia is seeking an Assistant Director for Aquatics to lead and manage Gabrielsen Natatorium, reporting to the Senior Associate Director for Facilities.

This role will recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate lifeguards and aquatic staff, oversee budget and programs, and coordinate with intercollegiate athletics and community partners.

Evening and weekend coverage may be required, and candidates must hold ARC certifications or obtain within a month.

Qualifications

  • Hold or be eligible for certification as a Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard, and Certified Pool Operator.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, work schedules, and operational needs.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with departments and organizations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and supervise the daily operations of Gabrielsen Natatorium.
  • Schedule and implement informal recreation activities and events.
  • Supervise aquatic special events conducted by intercollegiate athletics, student groups, university departments, and community groups.
  • Coordinate with pool operators regarding pool chemical treatment needs and annual maintenance projects.
