Job summary

Hofstra University on Long Island, Hempstead, NY, is seeking an Assistant Director for Alumni Affairs to coordinate programs that strengthen the student-to-alumni pipeline and foster lifelong engagement.

You will oversee Student and Alumni Ambassador Programs, develop GOLD engagements, and liaise with alumni Interest Communities, working with students, volunteers, and campus partners.

Evening and weekend hours will be required to support programs and events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 2–3 years of experience in development, alumni affairs, or related fields.
• Demonstrated experience in volunteer management and customer service.
• Experience with project coordination, marketing, and event planning.
• Knowledge of web-based services, as well as print and electronic publications.
• Experience with Raiser’s Edge and the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience and knowledge of social media platforms.
• Superior written, oral, and interpersonal skills, plus strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to build authentic relationships with a culturally and racially diverse alumni network.
• Must be able to travel locally and work evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate engagement strategies strengthening the student-to-alumni pipeline and lifelong relationships with the University.
• Oversee Student Ambassador and Alumni Ambassador Programs by recruiting, training, mentoring, recognizing, and supporting ambassadors.
• Develop engagement opportunities for Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) to promote networking, mentorship, and lifelong learning.
• Serve as staff liaison for GOLD, Alpha Phi Alpha, and AOB Interest Communities with volunteer leaders.
• Lead assessment and continuous improvement of assigned programs using data and feedback.
• Identify emerging trends in student and young alumni engagement to support goals.
• Represent the Office on committees and collaborative initiatives related to student engagement and alumni involvement.
