Job description

Assistant Director

University of California, Santa Barbara - Santa Barbara, CA

This position includes three major job functions: Marketing, Event Curation, and Theater Operations. Marketing responsibilities include: development of strategies, including website content, social media, email marketing, print advertising, writing press releases and managing marketing campaigns. Event Curation responsibilities include: serving as a member of the Center's programming team, which includes the Director, Associate Director, and Pollock Theater Director to create events for the public programming at the Pollock Theater. Theater operations responsibilities include assisting the Pollock Theater Director in coordination of daily operations and public events in the evenings and on occasional weekends.

Minimum Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in a media‑related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of marketing mediums, funding sources, communication principles, media and marketing techniques.
  • Strong project management skills related to media programming and media event management.
  • Event curation and/or conference organization experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Social media and marketing experience.
Desirable Requirements
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field or 5 years of industry/festival experience.
  • Experience working in a university environment.
Other Conditions of Employment
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends.
  • Requires a satisfactory criminal history background check.
