Job summary

PLAYTO LLC is seeking an Assistant Director in Brooklyn, NY, to support the Director in daily operations, oversee classroom activities and staff, and ensure compliance with childcare regulations. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and prior supervisory experience is preferred.

  • Knowledge of early childhood education practices, curriculum development, and regulatory requirements (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director in daily operations, including overseeing classroom activities, scheduling, correspondence, and staff management.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of children, staff, and center operations.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to childcare operations.
  • Prepare for and participate in inspections and audits.
  • Foster positive relationships with parents through effective communication, addressing inquiries, and concerns.
  • Assist with enrollment processes, including registration, paperwork, and parent communication.
  • Assist with admin duties such as Professional Development Days setup and breakdown.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment by overseeing health and safety protocols, emergency preparedness, and regular facility inspections.
  • Assist in classrooms as needed.
  • Maintain building inventory to ensure resources are available.

Salary Range: $65,000.00 To $75,000.00 Annually

THIS POSITION REQUIRES A MINIMUM OF A BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION, EDUCATION OR A RELATED FIELD.

As an Assistant Director, you'll:

  • Assist the Director in daily operations, including overseeing classroom activities, scheduling, correspondence, and staff management.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of children, staff, and center operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to childcare operations.
  • Prepare for and participate in inspections and audits.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Child Development, or a related field (required).
  • Previous experience in a childcare setting, with supervisory or managerial responsibilities (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of early childhood education practices, curriculum development, and regulatory requirements (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • Knowledge of licensing and regulatory requirements for childcare facilities (preferred).
  • Passion for working with children and supporting their development.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to handle changing priorities.
  • Commitment to professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID Preferred
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
