The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking an Assistant Director for the Intl Student & Scholar Office to coordinate SUNAPSIS, build e-forms, and ensure data integrity with SEVIS for F-1 and J-1 populations.

You will prepare immigration documents, manage reporting, advise students and scholars on federal regulations, and develop procedures to streamline services across campus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information or Data Science, Student Affairs or related field with 2 years in a data systems or international student services role.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups and communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of federal immigration regulations affecting international students and scholars, including F/J status.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate SUNAPSIS integration, build e-forms, and maintain data with SEVIS.
  • Prepare immigration documents for F-1 students and J-1 visitors; manage data reporting.

Description Of Work

Coordinate and integrate SUNAPSIS including building e-forms, integrating with other university systems and maintaining data between SUNAPSIS and the Student and Exchange Visitors Information System ( SEVIS ), a federal government system for the tracking of international students and scholars. Prepare immigration documents for F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors. Coordinate with the Assistant Director, Data Management and Compliance to manage data, provide informational reports (enrollment, census) and submit annual data reports. Advise international students, scholars and employees on federal immigration regulations and their responsibilities for maintaining status. Will work with federal government systems ( USCIS , USDHS , USDOL ). Will develop procedures to streamline services.

Serve as Designated School Official and Alternate Responsible Officer for UNL having signing authority to issue I-20’s and DS-2019’s. Perform other duties as necessary for the smooth operation of the International Student and Scholar Office. Develop website material and workshops/trainings/webinars to provide information to international students and scholars. Collaborate with a broad base of offices to ensure that the unique needs of international students and scholars are met.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information or Data Science, Student Affairs or related field and 2 years in a data systems or international student and scholar services role with direct experience working with data systems or students and scholars in the F, J, and H immigration statuses; Additional years of relevant experience or completed relevant education may substitute for required education/experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from varied administrative, academic, cultural, religious, national, ethic and linguistic background.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to assume responsibility and to work with minimum guidance.
  • Detailed knowledge of federal regulations affecting international students and scholars.
  • Federal regulations require Primary/Designated School Officials ( PDSO / DSO ) and Alternate/Responsible Officers (RO/ ARO ) to be a U.S. citizen or a U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in computer Information or Data Science, Student services or related field
  • Familiarity with UNL -specific software programs, including PeopleSoft and SUNAPSIS
