Role Description The Assistant Director role is a full-time, on-site position based at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, TX. The individual in this role will support the mission of the university through daily responsibilities that include advising Campus Activities Board, facilitationg leadership development and coordinating community service opprotunities while collaborating with faculty and staff, and providing high-quality service to students. The role also includes participation in campus initiatives, adherence to university policies and procedures, and contribution to a positive, student-centered environment.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication and the ability to interact effectively with diverse campus and community members.
  • Candidates should possess organizational and time management skills, including attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and consistent follow-through on tasks and projects.
  • Candidates should possess problem-solving and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret information, recommend solutions, and make sound decisions aligned with university guidelines.
  • Candidates should possess collaboration and interpersonal skills, including teamwork, professionalism, and the ability to build positive working relationships across departments.
  • Candidates should possess technology and office productivity skills, such as proficiency with common office software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, email) and the ability to learn university systems.
  • Relevant education such as a bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience, is preferred.
  • Experience in higher education, public institutions, or student-facing roles is beneficial.
