Position Details:

• Title: Assistant Device Characterization Scientist
• Position Type: 1-year contract with potential for extension based on performance and business needs
• Location: Rahway, NJ
• Shift: 1st shift
• Compensation: $38.25/HR

We seek a hands-on, lab-focused Scientist experienced in device characterization and testing, including components, sub-assemblies, full devices, and combination products like drug-delivery devices.

Responsibilities:

1. Technical interrogation of drug delivery device platforms to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
2. Utilize analytical instruments, methods, and data analysis to understand material and functional properties of devices.
3. Work with various device platforms, often comprising injection-molded plastics and mechanical or electro-mechanical systems, requiring creative evaluation approaches.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education:

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related field

Experience and Skills:

• 1-3 years of design, engineering, and mechanical testing experience.
• Strong mechanical testing, troubleshooting, and independent lab work skills.
• Experience training staff, developing test methods, and analyzing data.
• Proficiency with mechanical testing and imaging equipment (e.g., Instron, microscopes, XRCT).
• Knowledge of CAD (SolidWorks), tolerancing, and stack-up analysis.
• Ability to document and analyze test cases effectively.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with medical device development, design controls, and relevant standards (ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 60601, IEC 62304, ISO 11608).
• Familiarity with industry regulations and standards (21 CFR, FDA guidance, ISO standards).
