Job summary

Ariat International seeks a hands-on Assistant Designer to support our SMU team. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in apparel product development across multiple divisions including Equestrian, Countryside, Work, Western, Pet, and Accessories.

You’ll sketch in Illustrator, assist with lab dips, prep tech packs, track milestones, and help keep MIRO boards and design files up to date. A Bachelor’s in Fashion Design or related field is preferred; proficiency in Illustrator,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field preferred or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Internship or entry-level experience in apparel design or product development.
• Working proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop; MS Office competency required.
• Basic familiarity with fitting and pattern construction is helpful.
• Clear communicator with ability to work across teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist SMU development tasks and support the broader apparel design team.
• Create sketches for SMU requests using Illustrator under supervision.
• Help prepare tech packs, including BOMs, measurements, and tech sketches.
• Support materials team with labdip and strike-off requests.
• Track development milestones and update MIRO boards.
• Attend fit sessions, take notes, and update tech packages.
• Coordinate with QA and materials teams to ensure testing and approvals.
• Prepare design presentations and assortment reviews as needed.
• Maintain and organize design files and ensure accuracy across the cycle.
