Job summary

SOWELA invites an Academic Affairs leader for the School of Nursing & Allied Health. The role combines teaching coordination with program leadership to align curricula with community needs and accrediting standards.

Responsibilities include accreditation support, curriculum development, faculty recruitment, budgeting, and student services. A Master’s in Nursing and RN licensure in Louisiana or a Compact State are required.

Qualifications

• Two years in the concentration hired to teach (Medical-Surgical, Maternal Child, Pediatrics, Mental Health).
• Teaching in a higher education setting for a minimum of 3 years.
• Must meet faculty qualifications through LSBN, LSBPNE and clinical agencies; maintain a current, unencumbered RN license in Louisiana or Compact States.

Responsibilities

• Teach the equivalent of at least 3-credit hours each fall and spring semester (clinical, lab, classroom replacement/assignment).
• Participate in programmatic accreditation and approval activities including self-study, site visits, and annual reports.
• Collaborate with the Dean to develop, implement, and maintain curricula responding to community needs and SACSCOC/other accrediting bodies.
• Recruit, select, and mentor faculty; verify credentials and ensure appropriate credentials for teaching in Nursing and Allied Health.
• Monitor payroll, timesheets, and annual evaluations; participate in committee activities and scheduling.
