Job summary

Valencia College seeks an Assistant Dean for Engineering and Built Environment to advance instructional excellence across engineering and technology programs. You’ll work with the Dean and chairs to influence faculty development and student success.

The role involves observing part-time faculty, giving actionable feedback, and using data to improve teaching and outcomes across CAD, construction, and related disciplines in Central Florida.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in higher education leadership or academic administration, or related experience developing and/or mentoring colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Lead efforts to observe and coach part-time faculty, provide meaningful and actionable feedback.
• Leverage course success data to strengthen teaching practices and improve student outcomes.
• Collaborate with Dean, Associate Deans, and Chairs to support programs across engineering technology, advanced manufacturing, and related fields.

Valencia College is excited to announce an Assistant Dean, Engineering and Built Environment to join our academic leadership team and help advance instructional excellence across a dynamic portfolio of engineering and technology programs.

Working in close partnership with the Dean, Associate Dean(s), and Chair(s), the Assistant Dean will play an important role in faculty development, instructional quality, and student success. This role will lead efforts to observe and coach part-time faculty, provide meaningful and actionable feedback, and leverage course success data to strengthen teaching practices and improve student outcomes.

Supporting programs across engineering technology, advanced manufacturing and automation, construction and civil engineering, semiconductors, energy management, and computer-aided design, the Assistant Dean will have the opportunity to contribute to programs that prepare students for high-demand careers and support the evolving workforce needs of Central Florida.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Engineering or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in higher education leadership or academic administration, or related experience developing and/or mentoring colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications

• We are especially interested in candidates who bring experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
• Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
• Project management principles and practices
• Materials science and/or materials testing
• Building codes and/or building inspections
• ABET accreditation processes
