Job summary

The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine seeks an Assistant Dean of Clinical Education for its Jacksonville COM campus. The role oversees Year III and Year IV clinical education, coordinates rotations nationwide, and guides curriculum development in line with accreditation standards.

Responsibilities include supervising regional deans, budgeting for the clinical education department, faculty mentoring, and ensuring program quality and compliance with AOA/AACOM and MSCHE requirements.

Qualifications

• Earned Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from a COCA-accredited college of osteopathic medicine or a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from an LCME-accredited college of medicine.
• Board certified and licensed or eligible for a current license to practice medicine.
• Five years of experience in academic administration and medical education at the level of Assistant Dean, Department Chair, Director of Medical Education, and/or Residency Program Director preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Year III and Year IV clinical education and related components of years I–II.
• Supervise faculty and regional deans; manage clinical rotations across the United States.
• Set clinical goals, objectives, and outcome measures for student and faculty performance.
• Develop networks of student rotations and affiliate sites to support the program.
• Travel, including overnight stays, as required.
• Review literature and update curriculum to maintain cutting-edge education.
• Oversee evaluation processes and ensure program quality and accreditation readiness.
• Prepare and manage the budget for the clinical education department.
