Job summary

First Alliance Church is seeking an Assistant Custodian to help keep the church facilities clean and welcoming for worship, education, and community events. This role supports ministry by handling routine cleaning tasks and operating cleaning equipment, with flexible schedules.

This part-time position offers 10–20 hours per week, including weekends. You will perform general cleaning, maintain restrooms, dust surfaces, and report maintenance needs to leadership.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Past cleaning experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Keeps building clean and orderly condition.
• Performs heavy cleaning duties.
• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, or vacuums floors/rugs.
• Gathers and empties trash.
• Scrubs, sanitizes, and supplies restroom facilities.
• Dusts furniture, walls, and equipment.
• Cleans windows, mirrors, and partitions.
• Mixes cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions.
• Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Cleans and polishes fixtures and furniture.
• Shampoos or steam-cleans carpets and rugs.
• Cleans and polishes furniture and fixtures.
• Notifies managers regarding the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Overview

Preparing the church building for ministry is a vital role in the operations of the church!

Our facilities team is looking for team members to serve behind the scenes so that attendees and guests can focus on worship, discipleship, Bible study, and other aspects of ministry. Schedules are flexible!

The Assistant Custodian is responsible for executing weekly churchcleaning tasks. This includes general typical cleaning and operatingcleaning equipment.

Not only do we need to be ready for Sunday, but ministry happens all week and all year round!

This job is part time, hours to be determined during the interview process, range from 10 to 20 hours per week, including weekend work.
