Job summary

Fellowship Bible Church is seeking a part-time custodian to maintain cleanliness and order across church facilities. The role supports staff, guests, volunteers, and congregants with care and discretion, reporting to the Facility Director.

Expect to work about 10 hours weekly, with potential increases during busy periods. Responsibilities include maintaining buildings, assisting with setup for events, keeping baptismal tanks clean, and helping with storage organization.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of church buildings and property, including trash removal, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, disinfection, and routine cleaning of Education Wing, Sanctuary/Foyer, and Gym/Kitchen.
• Assist in cleaning gutters and roof drains when needed; move furniture and decorations as required.
• Ensure organization of storage areas and baptismal tank maintenance; assist with setup/teardown for ministry events on weekends.

Job description

The individual in this position provides support in the cleanliness of the church facility. The successful candidates provide a cheerful and organized atmosphere for all who enter, meeting the needs of staff, guests, volunteers, and congregants with care and discretion.

Reports to: Facility Director

Overview of Areas of Responsibility

• Cleanliness of the buildings and property
  • Trash, dust, vacuum, sweep, mop, wipe, scrub, and disinfect the facility. The cleaning
    routine and schedule will vary depending on the condition of each building: Education Wing, Sanctuary/Foyer, and Gym/Kitchen.
  • Aid in cleaning gutters and roof drains when needed.
  • Aid in moving furniture and decorations.
• Organization of the building and all storage areas
• Baptismal tank maintenance and cleaning
• Occasional set-up and tear-down of ministry events on weekends.

Education, Experience, and Biblical Qualifications

This position requires:

• The successful individual will need to possess a solid, Christ-honoring work ethic.
• Active and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by action, attitude, and behavior.
• A desire to serve the Pastors/church staff and their needs.
• Experience in people relations and problem-solving.

An Overview of What the Elders Are Asking of You:

• Demonstrate submissiveness to the Eldership of Fellowship Bible Church in all areas, always striving to uphold the Elder Council and seeking the success of our church vision. This requires all ministries to serve one another to see the growth of the body as a whole.
• Proactively pray for the body of Fellowship Bible, its ministries, and members.
• Weekly meetings with the Facility Director.
• As an hourly, part-time Custodian, you will be expected to work 10 hours a week. There will be weeks in the year when this number will go up.
• Weddings will be optional and $50 per event will be paid as a bonus.
• Endorsement and participation in church endeavors: Sunday morning service, Connection Groups, etc.

• Accrued sick time up to 5 days per year.
