Job summary

The Michigan State University Broad Museum seeks an Assistant Curator to contribute to its curatorial vision by developing exhibitions, acquisitions, and programs that engage the public and advance scholarly work.

Reporting to the Senior Curator and Director of Curatorial Affairs, this role supports exhibition development, collection stewardship, grant writing, and partnerships with faculty, students, and external institutions.

Qualifications

• Experience assisting with the development of thematic and monographic art exhibitions and publications.
• Three or more years of curatorial/museum experience and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
• Broad knowledge of art history and developments in curatorial practice and theory.
• Three years of experience working within the museum field, or related cultural organizations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement assigned and proposed museum exhibitions aligned with strategic goals.
• Contribute to collection growth and stewardship, including research and object files.
• Participate in grant writing for exhibitions, programs, and acquisitions.
• Support fundraising and donor relations with senior staff and university teams.
• Cultivate campus and community partnerships with MSU students, faculty, staff, and external institutions.
• Represent the museum as an ambassador at professional conferences, publications, and collaborations.
• Coordinate collections committee activities and meetings.
