Job summary

The University of Massachusetts Amherst seeks an Assistant CTO for Audiovisual & Digital Experience Services in Amherst. This senior technology leader will shape strategy, design, delivery, and lifecycle management of the enterprise AV and digital experience ecosystem across classrooms, events, and collaboration platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 7 years related experience or Associate’s degree with 9 years in AV/IT leadership.
• Valid driver’s license for operation of University Motor Vehicle.
• Experience acting as an owner’s representative on large-scale AV projects.
• Experience leading inter-disciplinary AV teams across multiple functions. Demonstrated strong customer service skills and executive stakeholder engagement.
• Strong project management, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and executes a strategy for audiovisual services, digital learning environments, and collaboration technologies.
• Lead classroom technology, AV-enabled learning environments, event and venue services, media systems, and collaboration platforms.
• Partner with academic units and Facilities to ensure usability and accessibility across learning spaces.
• Accountable for classroom readiness and service/repair across the academic calendar.
• Drives modernization, standardization, and scalability of classroom technologies.
• Oversee AV services supporting campus events, venues, and programs.
• Lead enterprise video platforms, streaming systems, and digital accessibility initiatives.
• Develop roadmaps for technology-enabled learning spaces and campus AV capabilities.
• Manage budgets, governance, incidents, and support staffing strategies.
