Jefferson County seeks a passionate attorney to perform a variety of legal work for the Human Services team, handling child abuse/neglect investigations, dependency and neglect proceedings, juvenile delinquency matters, adult protection investigations, mental health cases, and related civil matters.

Qualifications

• JD or LLB from an accredited law school.
• A minimum of two years’ experience of litigation is preferred.
• Must be licensed to practice law in Colorado; member in good standing of the State Bar of Colorado.
• A writing sample is required; appellate writing samples are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal representation and advice concerning child abuse/neglect investigations and proceedings, dependency and neglect matters, juvenile delinquency, adult protection, and related civil and criminal matters.
• Advise and assist Human Services team in administrative and litigation contexts; represent county clients and agencies in court and administrative proceedings.
• Maintain professional relationships with clients and co-workers; work independently in a fast-paced, tech-enabled environment.

Description:

Jefferson County seeks a passionate attorney to perform a variety of legal work for the Human Services team. This team provides legal representation and advice concerning child abuse and/or neglect investigations, dependency and neglect proceedings and appeals, juvenile delinquency matters, adult protection investigations and proceedings, mental health cases, drug and alcohol commitments, public assistance applications and appeals, liquor license violation prosecutions, civil collections, child support services, records requests and subpoenas. To be successful in this position, the Assistant County Attorney must be detail-oriented, have good organizational and negotiation skills, the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and establish and maintain working relationships with clients and co-workers. The Assistant County Attorney will work independently in a technologically advanced, fast-paced, sophisticated, and collegial work environment in our office with county clientsand agencies, elected officials, and the public.

The Jefferson County Attorney’s Office consists of 50 attorneys and staff

members who work collaboratively to provide a full range of legal services to Jefferson County.

The County Attorney’s Office provides flexibility in creating a hybrid work schedule, with both in-office and remote work opportunities that promote work-life balance.

Schedule:

This full-time position operates on a standard work week (Monday-Friday). This position offers the opportunity for remote work on some days of the week.

Compensation:

The anticipated hiring range at Associate level is $130,000 - $140,000

Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills, as well as the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and budgetary considerations.
