Job summary

The Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) in New York City seeks an Assistant Counsel to support the Legal Division. Reporting to the General Counsel, this role focuses on agency contracts, human resources, FOIL matters, and confidential investigations, providing guidance to the Director of Administration and other executives.

Responsibilities include advising on labor relations, drafting and reviewing contracts, and conducting legal research to support agency programs.

Qualifications

• Admission to, and member in good standing of, the New York State Bar.
• Two years of subsequent professional legal experience.

Responsibilities

• Advise the Director of Administration and executives on legal matters including labor relations.
• Draft and review contracts and memoranda of understanding for OCM programs.
• Review procurements and coordinate with OSC, DOB, and the Attorney General's office.
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda with opinions and precedents.
• Educate staff on State ethics requirements and coordinate related trainings.
