Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions is recruiting an Assistant Corporate Controller in Downers Grove, IL. This high-visibility role reports to the VP Controller and serves as a key partner in scaling the accounting organization and modernization efforts.

The position offers exposure to executive leadership, strategic initiatives, and opportunities to drive process improvements, automation, and robust financial reporting for a multibillion-dollar business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required; CPA strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience in a corporate setting.
• Experience in large private equity backed or public company environments.
• Product-based industry knowledge, with inventory accounting experience.
• Experience leading and developing teams.
• Strong technical accounting and US GAAP knowledge.
• Experience driving process improvements and automation.
• Prior public accounting experience valued.

Responsibilities

• Lead corporate accounting and financial reporting activities for a large, complex organization.
• Oversee technical accounting matters including complex transactions and policy application.
• Drive monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with a focus on efficiency, automation, and continuous improvement.
• Lead, develop, and mentor a team of 10+ accounting professionals.
• Partner with external auditors and support compliance, controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Support ERP enhancements, system implementations, and finance transformation initiatives.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic projects, process improvements, and business initiatives.

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with increasing leadership responsibility in a corporate environment
• Accounting degree required, CPA strongly preferred
• Prior public accounting experience highly valued
• Experience within a large private equity backed or public company environment
• Experience with a product based industry and understanding of inventory accounting
• Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams
• Strong technical accounting and US GAAP knowledge
• Experience leading process improvement, automation, and transformation initiatives
• Experience supporting large, complex organizations and dynamic business environments
