Job summary

San Diego State University’s Women’s Resource Center is seeking an Assistant Coordinator to support daily operations, programming, and student engagement. You will work closely with the WRC Director to create an inclusive space and serve as a mentor and resource for students from diverse backgrounds.

• Maintain the WRC’s website, social media, newsletters, email communications, marketing materials, and event calendars.
• Assist with supporting student assistants and volunteers with program planning, facilitation, and center operations.
• Collaborate with SDSU community centers, campus departments, and community organizations to coordinate programs, outreach, tabling, and student resources.
• Help with coordinating event logistics, purchasing documentation, attendance tracking, and program assessments to support effective services and future improvements.

Position Summary

Join San Diego State University as the Assistant Coordinator for the Women’s Resource Center (WRC), where you will support daily operations, established programming, and student engagement. Working closely with the WRC Director, you will help maintain an inclusive and welcoming space while serving as a mentor, resource, and point of connection for students from diverse and historically underrepresented communities.

This highly student-facing role supports a team of student assistants and volunteers, coordinates communications and outreach, and collaborates with campus and community partners to increase the WRC’s visibility and engagement. The Assistant Coordinator will contribute to programs that explore how gender intersects with race, ethnicity, class, sexuality, ability, and other identities while advancing student wellness, belonging, and success.

Position Information

• This is a full‑time, benefits eligible, temporary position with an anticipated end date one year from the date of hire with the possibility of reappointment.
• This position is designated non‑exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
• Work hours are Monday – Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm, but may vary based on operational needs.
• The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

The Women’s Resource Center functions as a gender advocacy hub dedicated to supporting women and gender‑expansive individuals. Rooted in an intersectional feminist perspective, the center provides sexual and gender‑based violence education via the Brave Project, offers transformative learning and healing initiatives, maintains support for parenting and pregnant students, and leads a dedicated Women and Gender Equity first‑year experience program.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to graduation from a four‑year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job‑related field. Specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown below may be substituted for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis.
