Ala Moana Hotel by Mantra is seeking an Assistant Cook to join our Culinary department in Honolulu. You will assist in preparation, cooking and service of all food and beverages, supporting kitchen team members and ensuring cleanliness and safe operation of equipment.

Responsibilities include portion control, proper storage, reading recipes, and requisitioning supplies. You will work with front-of-house staff, perform various kitchen stations, and maintain health standards throughout shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year hotel or restaurant work experience.
• Basic cooking knowledge.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to learn quickly.
• Effective oral communication skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team and build relationships.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation, cooking, and serving of food; may handle short order station.
• Check storage of products and portions to reduce waste.
• Maintain cleanliness and safe operation of kitchen equipment.
• Select fresh produce and read recipes; prepare requisitions for supplies.
• Perform routine cleaning to health standards.
• Keep floors dry and safe to prevent slips.
• Move supplies and clean spills as needed for safety.
• Assist kitchen staff at various posts.
• Coordinate with front-of-house staff and stewards.
• Work at stations such as carving, grilling, plating as needed.
