The Virginia Beach Convention Center facilitates successful experiences by offering a full range of high quality services and amenities for conventions, professional trade shows, consumer shows and community events.Job duties include the following:Standard Office Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm however, work schedule will vary based upon event activity and will include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.Assist the Convention Center Manager in the overall management and supervision of the Virginia Beach Convention Center (VBCC)Serve as a duty manager overseeing all logistics to ensure the venue is meeting or exceeding all stakeholder expectations with respect to the facility and services being provided.Assist in being the primary point of contact and managing large events at VBCCAssist in being the primary point of contact and managing the booking and scheduling of events at VBCCSupervise the sales and marketing, booking and management of events at the VBCCCoordinate event services with VBCC business and operations departmentsSupervise City and contracted staff and servicesMeet with clients to provide information on facility services and advise clients regarding laws, rules and regulations relative to operations of various eventsAccurately communicate event and operational information to staff while ensuring delivery of quality services to customersManage Momentus event management system as a power user to ensure event related information is entered accurately and timelyNegotiate agreements with facility usersPrepare contracts and manage collection of client contract documentsReview and approve settlement reports for all completed events; review written reports on both operations and event related incidentsAssist in the preparation and monitoring of the operating budgetSupervise the hiring, scheduling and training of full time and part time staff and oversee contractual staffProvide leadership and supervision of marketing strategies for programs, events and services by coordinating with the Convention and Visitor Bureau’s Marketing and Communications Team and the VBCC’s exclusive food & beverages services providerFoster a good relationship with safety agencies such as VBPD, VBFD, EMS, Fire Marshal’s Office and Health Department. Special Requirements: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Positions within this class have been designated as Alpha I positions requiring employees to work during inclement weather, regardless of the City’s operational status. Must complete training and obtain certification in First Aid/CPR/AED and Trained Crowd Manager by the end of the probationary period.
