Job summary

McDonald Automotive Group in Littleton, CO is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller – Variable Operations to lead vehicle-inventory and sales-accounting across our multi-brand dealership group.

You will mentor four accounting portfolios serving about twelve locations, partner with Sales Directors, and ensure accurate month-end closes and timely reporting.

This role requires strong leadership, extensive dealership experience, and a track record of improving processes and controls.

Qualifications

• At least three years of progressive dealership-accounting experience.
• Direct experience with vehicle-inventory accounting and reconciliation.
• Strong understanding of dealership sales accounting and variable operations.
• Experience supervising or leading accounting staff.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Excellent communication skills with Sales Directors and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting operations related to vehicle inventory and sales activity across assigned locations.
• Lead four portfolios serving approximately twelve dealerships.
• Partner with Sales Directors to address accounting issues affecting operations and performance.
• Lead month-end close activities and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Develop and coach accounting staff and maintain internal controls and standards.
• Identify process improvements and strengthen accounting controls across locations.
• Coordinate audits and ensure proper documentation and reporting.
