Job summary

Brewer Morris in New York City is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to lead accounting for SPVs, funding facilities, and structured finance transactions. You will support financial reporting and internal controls across the finance organization.

This hybrid position offers collaboration with Treasury, Legal, and Finance partners in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment, with a strong emphasis on process improvements and automation.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in accounting, audit, controllership, or financial reporting.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial statement preparation.
• Experience with securitizations, structured finance, SPVs, funding facilities, or similar complex accounting environments.
• Background in financial services, fintech, capital markets, private credit, or other regulated industries preferred.
• Experience with SOX controls, audit coordination, and financial reporting processes.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong systems aptitude with a focus on process improvement and automation.

Responsibilities

• Own accounting, reporting, and close processes for SPVs, funding facilities, and structured finance transactions.
• Lead accounting execution for new funding initiatives, securitizations, and complex transactions from inception through ongoing reporting.
• Support month-end close, balance sheet integrity, reconciliations, and financial reporting activities.
• Strengthen and maintain internal control frameworks, including SOX compliance and audit readiness.
• Partner with Treasury, Legal, Finance, Risk, and Systems teams to support business growth and operational scalability.
• Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and controllership best practices.
• Act as a technical accounting resource for complex business initiatives and evolving funding structures.
