Job summary

Bornquist Inc. in Northbrook, IL, is seeking an Assistant Controller to oversee accounting operations and financial reporting with autonomy.

The role drives month-end close, prepares financial statements, ensures internal controls, and partners across departments to improve processes. Candidates have a BA in accounting/finance, 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, CPA preferred, and ERP experience (Epicor Prophet 21).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience including full-cycle accounting and financial reporting.
• CPA certification preferred (or actively pursuing).
• Experience with ERP systems; Epicor Prophet 21 experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Leads and manages day-to-day accounting functions: A/R, A/P, payroll, cash management, and banking.
• Drives monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes with deadlines.
• Prepares and consolidates financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
• Ensures accuracy of reconciliations, journal entries, and outputs.
• Implements policies, procedures, and internal controls; drives process improvements.
• Builds budgets and forecasts; analyzes financial results and provides recommendations.
• Coordinates audit schedules and supports tax compliance.
• Backs up Controller and leads as needed.
• Performs other duties and special projects.
