Job summary

Clearbridge Executive Search is seeking a CPA with strong public accounting and leadership experience to join as Controller, guiding cost accounting, pricing strategy, and profitability improvements across operations and projects.

You will oversee SEC reporting, US GAAP, SOX compliance, asset capitalization, monthly closes, consolidations, and audits, while leading cost and fixed asset teams and advancing accounting policies and process improvements.

Qualifications

• CPA required with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 3+ years public accounting in a Top 10 firm.
• Strong SEC reporting, US GAAP, SOX, and technical accounting expertise for complex environments.
• Analytical, communication skills; ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-driven settings and independent decisions.
• Proficiency with financial systems; NetSuite preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive cost accounting and operational finance; partner with operations to improve profitability.
• Lead accounting oversight for system implementations and fixed assets; ensure SOX compliance.
• Manage tax, regulatory filings including Form 5500 and sales/property tax.
• Oversee internal controls and SOX program; coordinate audit remediation.

Job description

• Drives cost accounting and operational finance by partnering with Operations and Project Management teams to maintain standard costs, develop pricing strategies, improve profitability, and strengthen financial reporting and controls
• Leads accounting oversight for system implementations and fixed assets, ensuring SOX compliance, process integrity, accurate capitalization of assets, and readiness before system go-live
• Manages tax, regulatory, and benefits-related filings, including sales and property taxes, tax nexus assessments, SEC reporting support, and Form 5500 filings for retirement and benefit plans
• Oversees internal controls and compliance programs, maintaining the SOX framework, monitoring control effectiveness, coordinating audit remediation efforts, and ensuring compliance across corporate accounting functions
• Supports corporate accounting, financial reporting, and technical accounting initiatives, including monthly and annual close processes, consolidations, GAAP implementation, financial audits, policy development, and resolution of accounting issues
• Provides leadership and team development, supervising cost and fixed asset accounting teams, leading process improvement and strategic projects, maintaining accounting policies and procedures, and assisting with hiring, training, and performance management

Qualifications

• CPA required with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, including 3+ years of public accounting experience at a Top 10 firm supporting SEC-regulated clients and 4+ years of progressive leadership experience in private industry, ideally as a Controller.
• Strong expertise in SEC reporting, U.S. GAAP, internal controls (SOX), and technical accounting, with the ability to research, interpret, and apply accounting standards in complex business environments
• Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments and make independent business decisions.
• Proficiency with financial systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office; NetSuite experience is highly preferred and considered a must-have for success in this role

Salary: $125K – $135K + bonus
