Job summary

Coda Search is partnering with a reputable Private Equity group to hire an Assistant Controller to join its growing finance team in New York. The role focuses on fund accounting oversight, financial reporting, and supporting deal teams through the investment lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of accounting experience in PE or investment management, a CPA (preferred), and strong GAAP knowledge, with advanced Excel skills and experience with fund reporting systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required; CPA strongly preferred.
• 8+ years of accounting experience in private equity, real estate, or investment management.
• Strong understanding of fund and partnership accounting and investment reporting.
• Experience supporting investment/deal teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Advanced Excel skills; familiar with accounting platforms and fund reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee financial reporting for multiple private equity funds and investment vehicles.
• Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Manage month-end and quarter-end close processes including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Support deal teams with transaction execution and closing activities.
• Coordinate with external auditors and fund administrators.
• Prepare investor reporting packages and performance analyses.
• Review partnership allocations, waterfalls, and carried interest calculations.
• Assist with cash management, liquidity planning, and treasury activities.
• Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.

This individual will play a key role in overseeing fund accounting operations, supporting the deal team throughout the investment lifecycle, and assisting with financial reporting and fund accounting functions across the platform.
