Job summary

Saint Elizabeth University in Morris County, New Jersey seeks an Assistant Controller to lead accounting and reporting for the University and assist the Controller in daily operations of the Business Office.

The role supervises the Senior Accountant and coordinates monthly closes, reconciliations, GAAP compliance, and external audits. A bachelor’s degree, 3–5 years accounting experience (2 in supervision), and advanced Great Plains skills are required. CPA is desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience with at least 2 in supervision.
• Non-profit/education sector experience preferred.
• Advanced experience with Great Plains accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly close checklist and reporting processes.
• Review reconciliations and journal entries for accuracy.
• Maintain audit documentation and schedules for audits.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and prepare year-end statements.
• Oversee general ledger activities and system integrations.
• Support audits and budget analysis with department heads.
