Job summary

Whitman-Walker Health is seeking an Assistant Controller to support the finance department in full-cycle financial statement production and general financial administration. The role oversees month-end close, GL reconciliation, overhead allocations, fixed assets, AP/AR, cash reporting, and audit preparation, reporting to the Deputy CFO.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting, managerial accounting experience, and preference for nonprofit sector exposure.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required.
Demonstrated experience in managerial accounting and finance leadership.
Non-profit experience preferred; familiarity with fund accounting beneficial.

Responsibilities

Assist in the development of timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Manage month and year end close, including journal entries and reconciliations.
Oversee general ledger maintenance, overhead allocations, fixed assets, AP/AR and cash reporting.
Coordinate with Grants accounting and Payroll staff; contribute to audits and regulatory reporting.
Direct cash disbursement processes and maintain banking activities.
Support management in accounting pronouncements and reporting requirements.
