Job summary

CanAm Property Management is seeking an Assistant Controller to support financial operations across a multifamily real estate portfolio. The role reports to the Director of Finance & US Real Estate and involves accounting guidance, internal controls, and cross-team collaboration.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in accounting (including property accounting) and strong expertise with Yardi or OneSite, Excel, and payroll processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with accounting concentration.
• Minimum five years of progressive accounting experience incl. month-end close and financial reporting.
• Minimum three years of property accounting experience, preferably multifamily real estate.
• Experience processing payroll and related reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounts payable and ensure compliance with internal procedures.
• Prepare general ledger journal entries and monthly close packages.
• Manage intercompany transactions and mortgage payments.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and monitor cash flow.
• Support annual operating budgets and year-end audits.
• Develop and improve internal control policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with property management teams on financial reporting requirements.
