Job summary

Jobot is seeking an Assistant Controller in Aurora, OH to oversee key accounting functions in a multi-entity environment, including AP/AR, close, budgeting, and internal controls.

The ideal candidate will have 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and hands-on expertise with month-end close processes. This on-site role offers a competitive base with bonus potential and full benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in roles such as Controller or Assistant Controller.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation.
• Experience independently managing a monthly close process.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions preferred.
• Experience managing or overseeing AP and AR functions.
• Strong budgeting and forecasting experience.
• Advanced Excel and proficiency with accounting/ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• CPA designation preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Own and independently complete the monthly financial close process from start to finish.
• Establish and maintain a disciplined monthly close schedule and ensure deadlines are met.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, deferrals, prepaids, fixed assets, and other month-end adjustments.
• Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations and investigate unusual activity.
• Analyze monthly results and identify variances, trends, and issues.
• Ensure transactions conform to GAAP and company policies.
• Collaborate with operations to resolve accounting and reporting issues.
• Provide management with meaningful financial analysis of monthly results.
• Improve efficiency and timeliness of the close process.
