Assistant Controller – Mining Finance

Job summary

P&C Recruiting and HR is seeking an Assistant Controller to support the Controller in overseeing all accounting and financial reporting for our mining and mineral processing operations. You will help ensure data accuracy, strong internal controls, and provide financial insight to drive business performance.

The successful candidate will work in the office three days per week during the first ninety days, with hybrid options to be discussed thereafter.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with cost accounting and inventory accounting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in monthly/annual close processes to ensure timely financial reporting.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and support schedules.
• Maintain internal controls over financial reporting and SOPs.
• Oversee AP/AR functions, coding and approvals, and depreciation.
• Provide project accounting oversight for budgets and CAPEX tracking.
• Support ERP improvements and system upgrades to streamline processes.
• Lead accounting staff with training, mentoring, and back-up to Controller.
