Job summary

Midwest Direct in Cleveland, OH seeks an Assistant Controller to collaborate with the CFO in daily accounting and month-end close. This role emphasizes risk management, cost accounting, variance analysis, and safeguarding assets with plant operations alignment.

You will lead GL reconciliations, inventory controls, and financial reporting while mentoring the accounting team and supporting tax reporting and internal controls across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; MBA preferred.
• CPA or CMA designation is highly valued.
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in industrial/manufacturing environments ideal.
• Strong ERP experience and advanced Excel skills required.

Responsibilities

• Risk management and insurance policy oversight, audits, and premium management.
• Cost accounting, variance analysis, and plant absorption calculations.
• Support month-end close, consolidations, and business reviews.
• GL audit support, intercompany balances, and bank reconciliations.
• Inventory control, audits of stamps, customer balances, and titles.
• Lead accounting team across AP/AR, fixed assets and cash apps.
• Drive budgeting, rolling forecasts, and internal controls compliance.
• Prepare quarterly tax reports and support sales/use tax filings.
