Job summary

Federal Signal Corporation in University Park, IL, is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead the accounting operations for the division, ensuring GAAP compliance and strong internal controls. You will oversee the close process, prepare financial reporting and variance analysis, and manage intercompany/CAPEX activities.

The role requires 5+ years in accounting/financial reporting, manufacturing experience, ERP proficiency (JDE preferred), and CPA or MBA are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• 5+ years’ experience in accounting and financial reporting; 3+ years in a manufacturing environment; 3+ years ERP.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to BU Controller ensuring GAAP compliance and regulatory requirements for jurisdictions and policies.
• Maintain internal controls to satisfy SOX requirements and company standards.
• Participate in financial close including journal entries, reconciliations, and analytics.
• Prepare financial reporting of performance and variance analyses.
• Oversee intercompany and CAPEX activities for the business unit.
• Support internal and external audits and address issues timely.
• Attend S&OP and Budget/Forecast meetings to stay informed on business developments.
• Apply continuous improvement to reduce the cost structure.
• Manage assigned team with coaching, training, and performance management.
• Participate in acquisition diligence and integration efforts.
