Job summary

Sequoia Financial Group is seeking an Assistant Controller to join our Finance & Accounting team in Northeast Ohio. This experienced leader will oversee day-to-day accounting, month-end close, and provide technical depth under the Controller.

You will mentor staff, coordinate with external auditors, and ensure accurate revenue recognition for client contracts. The role requires a CPA or active pursuit, a Bachelor's in Accounting, and 8–12 years of progressive accounting experience in a

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA license or actively pursuing.
• 8–12 years of progressive accounting experience including supervising staff.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP and month-end/year-end close processes.
• Ability to perform and review complex technical accounting work accurately.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to operate in a high-growth, rapidly changing environment.
• Experience in the financial services industry (preferred).
• Experience supporting M&A-related accounting integration (preferred).
• ERP implementation experience (preferred).
• Experience working with external auditors (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close.
• Prepare and review complex journal entries and analyses (fixed assets, investments, leases, revenue).
• Research technical accounting matters and document conclusions for audit.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff and provide technical guidance.
• Collaborate with Advisors on client contracts and revenue recognition.
• Serve as primary contact for external audit and PBC preparation.
• Support quarterly bank and shareholder reporting requirements.
• Oversee AP/AR processes and improve efficiencies.
• Assist with accounting integration for acquisitions and SOPs.
