Job summary

Vaco is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to lead a multi-entity accounting team in the Triad, NC area with hybrid flexibility. You will own the monthly close, oversee external audits, and drive process improvements across finance and technology to scale operations.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in accounting, strong GAAP knowledge, and a track record of developing staff. CPA is preferred; manufacturing or distribution experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 7+ years progressive accounting experience.
• Multi-entity consolidation and financial reporting experience.
• Experience managing and developing an accounting team.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of U.S. GAAP.
• Track record of improving processes, creating efficiencies, and leveraging technology.
• CPA preferred; public accounting and manufacturing or distribution experience are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close process, targeting a 5-day close, along with consolidations and financial reporting.
• Oversee preparation of annual audited financial statements and coordinate external audits.
• Manage, mentor, and develop accounting professionals.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes, eliminate manual work, and improve efficiency.
• Optimize accounting systems and technology to enhance reporting and scalability.
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.
• Partner with finance and operational leadership on business initiatives.
