Job summary

Washoe County School District seeks an Assistant Controller to plan, supervise, and coordinate multiple accounting areas including payroll, grants, and property control. You’ll ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with GASB/GAAP, while guiding staff and interfacing with external auditors.

The role requires a CPA/CGFM-desirable level of expertise, strong leadership, and experience in governmental accounting within a large district setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field.
• Five years accounting experience with supervisory experience; governmental accounting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, fixed assets, accounts receivable, and student activity funds.
• Ensure data integrity and proper use of financial systems.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Coordinate ACFR, OPEB reporting, and agency reporting.
