Job summary

United Grain Corporation seeks an Assistant Controller to report to the CFO and partner with the Controller to ensure accurate GAAP-compliant recording of assets and robust internal controls.

The role leads the finance accounting team, oversees monthly and quarterly closes, and supports statements and audits with the external CPA firm. Strong leadership and MS Office/ERP skills are essential for success in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; equivalent experience considered.
• Minimum eight years of progressively responsible experience in accounting management; CPA preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and team leadership abilities; capable of independent decision-making and clear English communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support accounting functions within the finance team and coach GAAP principles.
• Develop and lead the finance accounting team; conduct annual performance reviews.
• Manage monthly close process and review reconciliations; provide training as needed.
• Prepare and present journal entries to Controller/CFO, including payroll.
• Assist in monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements and ad hoc reporting.
• Support budgets, forecasting, and audit readiness; coordinate with external CPA during audits.
• Ensure internal controls and compliance with GAAP; drive process improvements.
