Job summary

Fortis Bank Denver - HQ is seeking an Assistant Controller to assist the Controller with internal controls, financial reporting, and month-end close processes. The role oversees the general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, prepaids and related close activities.

Responsibilities include approving journal entries, reconciliations, 1099s, vendor setup, and coordinating audits. Strong GAAP knowledge, Excel skills, and supervisory experience are required; based in Denver, CO with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
• Strong knowledge and experience in interpreting and applying GAAP.
• Master’s Degree and CPA License preferred.
• 5-8+ years of progressively responsible and relative experience.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in management of the monthly close process and ensure adherence to timelines.
• Timely review and approval of journal entries.
• Review and approval of reconciliations.
• Assist in review/approval of accounts payable payments and wire payments.
• Assist in payroll processing and payroll expense reimbursements.
• Prepare stock-based compensation entries and accruals.
• Oversee investments entries, depreciation, and prepaid/subledger accuracy.
• Support annual financial audits and preparation of financial statements.
