Job summary

Ambient Enterprises in California seeks an experienced Assistant Controller to join the finance team. The role will manage financial operations, ensure GAAP compliance, and support the Controller in maintaining the company’s financial health.

Key responsibilities include financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, budgeting and forecasting, internal controls, and assisting with audits. CPA preferred; construction industry experience is a strong plus; pay range provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA licence strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in supervision.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics).
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and analyses.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis with the finance team.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and support audits with documentation.
• Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and data integrity.
• Perform monthly reconciliations and support job costing and % completion reporting.
• Supervise accounting staff and provide training to support professional growth.
• Identify process improvements and automation opportunities to boost efficiency.
• Support the Controller and senior management with strategic insights.
