Established in 1968, Cherry Coatings is one of the largest commercial paint contractors in the country. We are a family-owned business that provides architectural, industrial, and maintenance coating services for some of the most recognizable facilities in Texas, Arizona, Tennessee, and beyond. Our strong emphasis on high-quality service and client satisfaction has made us the preferred partner for general contractors, property management firms, and facility managers.

We are looking to add an experienced and motivated Assistant Controller to our growing Carrollton, TX team. The Assistant Controller will handle high-level accounting and managerial duties, overseeing the financial activities of Cherry Coatings. This role reports directly to the Controller and will assist with various aspects of full-cycle accounting, including reporting and compliance. Additionally, the Assistant Controller will help develop internal financial control policies, procedures, and planning as needed.

Responsibilities:
  1. Manage the month-end and annual close processes, including preparing journal entries, monthly reconciliations, and financial reports.
  2. Collaborate with various departments to make informed decisions and compile accurate job/project reports.
  3. Conduct job cost analysis and ensure accurate WIP reporting.
  4. Establish and develop strong internal controls, streamline processes, and implement continuous improvement measures.
  5. Maintain the integrity of financial data and provide technical accounting guidance and support to staff.
  6. Complete monthly tax reporting requirements and ensure timely filings.
  7. Assist with the annual budget process.
  8. Lead and support internal and external audit engagements.
  9. Manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, resolving account balances and analyzing cash flow.
  10. Ensure adherence to operating procedures and policies.
  11. Handle special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience, with construction experience mandatory.
  • Previous experience managing staff.
  • Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, think critically and analytically.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across functions to drive results.
  • Deep understanding of GAAP principles.
  • Experience working in a fast-growing business environment.
  • Experience with AP/AR/GL/Cost Accounting is a plus.
