Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our accounting services team. You will perform Controller-level functions for multiple clients, providing strategic finance insights and ensuring GAAP-compliant reporting.

You will manage several client projects, deadlines, and workstreams while consulting on accounting best practices. Strong CT government experience and proficiency with major accounting software are highly valued.

Qualifications

• 6 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience required.
• Experience in Connecticut Government strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP.
• MUNIS experience strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Intacct, Great Plains, Yardi, MRI, Timberline, Sage, Foundations, and Peoplesoft.

Responsibilities

• Perform Assistant Controller functions as part of clients’ accounting services teams and manage these functions for clients
• Act as a consultant and advisor on accounting and finance-related best practices
• Manage multiple clients, projects, workstreams, and deadlines
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations
• Foster and build opportunities for clients, communities, and people
• Attend industry-leading events and training
• Maintain knowledge of client organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards
