Job summary

CLA is seeking an Assistant Controller for our SLG CAAS Practice in Connecticut, with opportunities in West Hartford and Shelton. You will manage client accounting functions, advise on accounting and finance engagements, and handle multiple clients with deadlines.

You will prepare and analyze client financial statements, recommend improvements, and stay current with GAAP and regulatory guidance. This role requires strong leadership and project management in a professional services environment.

Qualifications

• 6 years of accounting/financial experience required.
• Connecticut Government experience strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree required; combination of related experience may be accepted.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• MUNIX experience strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Intacct, Great Plains).

Responsibilities

• Perform Assistant Controller functions for CAAS clients and manage multiple engagements.
• Act as consultant on accounting and finance best practices for clients.
• Provide project management across client work and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Maintain knowledge of policies, regulations, and current standards.
